There will be times in life when you have to let go and trust God. As I am writing this article, God is teaching me on this subject. And so far, this process has not been so easy. I have cried a few times because I feel overwhelmed.

But God has called us to trust Him. It’s not your job to worry about tomorrow or the future.

Letting go is easier said than done. Whether it be a toxic relationship, hurt, a certain mindset, or even a trauma.

Without the help of God, these things can destroy you. However, with these bible verses on letting go, I pray you’ll find wisdom and comfort in the journey ahead.

You are not meant to carry the weight of this world on your shoulders. Instead, you should completely surrender to God’s plan. That’s where you’ll find peace that surpasses all understanding.

How do you know when God is telling you to let go?

Whenever I am not at peace that is the first sign that it’s time to let go. Peace doesn’t come because a situation is bad or good.

The peace that God gives doesn’t depend on worldly standards (John 14:27). While there is no definite answer or formula, there are subtle ways God may communicate with us.

Some people call it their intuition. They just know it! Others sense peace and clarity. If you sense that God is telling you to let go of something and don’t know how to then ask Him for guidance.

Remember God’s timing and plan may not always align with your desires. However, trusting in His wisdom and surrendering all control will lead to inner peace.

How do you let go biblically?

There is always a right and wrong way to do things. Biblically, first, you need to trust in God’s plan and surrender your worries and burdens to him.

In Hebrews 11:6 it states that without faith it is impossible to please God. For anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

So one way you can move on from a difficult situation is through prayer. By pouring out all your concerns and desires to Him.

Another important key that goes hand in hand with prayer is meditating on the scriptures regarding your situation.

Lastly, forgiveness is another aspect of letting go. You have to rid yourself of every resentment and grudges!

To summarize, Faith, Prayer, and Forgiveness are steps to follow to help you let go biblically.

Why is it hard to let go?

Understandable! This happens to the best of us. But do you trust that if you give God your worries and troubles? If yes, then He will offer help during those difficult times.

God wants you to be prayerful instead of anxious. In the bible verses below you’ll see that once you present your request to God with thanksgiving then God’s peace will guard your heart and mind.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

A Prayer To Let Go

Lord, I come before you with a heart of humility. There are things in my life that I need to let go of but I don’t know how to. Heavenly Father, you didn’t give me the Spirit of fear but one of love and sound mind.

But, yet I find myself filled with fear, anxiety, doubts, guilt, and disappointment. Lord, I ask for your peace to overtake me so I will be able to use sound judgment and wisdom on this journey.

Today, I take every thought captive that says it is impossible, and that I am a failure. I declare I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus.

Teach me Lord to understand that you love me and your thoughts towards me are good. I thank you that all things work together for my good. That what was meant to destroy me has empowered and strengthened me. I thank you Heavenly Father, that I am an overcomer.

In Jesus Name. Amen.
