Mornings can be one of the most productive times of the day. As the popular saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm.”
Waking up early and getting things done is one of the best habits of successful people. Starting your day before the rest of the world gives you a head start. There are quite a few benefits to waking up early such as increased productivity, improved mental health, and overall success in life.
To me, that is enough to get up before the sun comes out. Imagine the number of things you can get done when everyone one else is sleeping.
However, it takes more than just setting an early alarm to make the most out of your mornings. In fact, there are a few key habits that you should do in this period.
So, let’s dive into the nitty bitty of everything you must do in your morning routine before 8 am.

Drink Lemon Water
A warm glass of lemon water is the first thing you should intake and not coffee. According to many studies, lemon water is beneficial to your health. Lemon water is pretty simple to make and it’s refreshing too.
A great way to give you a nice dose of vitamins and minerals. The citric acid in lemons helps with digestion and detoxification by aiding your liver function and flushes out toxins.
Additionally, the vitamin C in lemons can boost your immune system and fight off oxidative stress. All you need is half a lemon and warm water. You can add honey or ginger which is optional.
Pray and Read the Bible
There’s no better way to start your morning! Having an alone session with God is essential. Start off with giving thanks to God. Doing this simple yet powerful act is literally life-changing. My days tend to be 100x better when I begin with worshipping God. Literally, I feel like a superwoman 😂.
Connecting with God, first thing in the morning helps you to grow spiritually and really reflect. You start your day with meaning and purpose. And you know that whatever you faced in that day, you are an overcomer.
Review Daily Schedule
Hopefully, you already have a schedule that you did the night before. If not, you can take the time to create one. Take time early in the morning to go over your schedule and make adjustments were possible.
This will help you stay organized, prioritize tasks, and make the most of your time. See if there’s any new development or responsibility that may have popped up. Monitor your daily schedule so you’ll be able to stay on track with your goals.
Quick Tidy Up
A space free from clutter can actually boost your mood and contribute to productivity. Start by making your bed as you wake up. Spend a few minutes each morning tidying up your work area and living spaces.
Doing a little cleaning here and there will reduce the load of chores you need to get done. During this period, get rid of any clutter, straighten up your desk, and put things back where they belong. A neat space makes it easier to focus!
Exercise
Exercising regularly is not just good for getting in shape but also boosting your energy and mental clarity. Your workout session doesn’t have to be an hour long, sometimes 15 minutes is all you need to get some extra energy.
No gym, no problem! YouTube has plenty of free videos of exercise that are just as good. Lighter exercise like walking and stretching will do just fine also.
Exercise releases endorphins and increases blood flow to your brain, improving your mood and cognitive function. This outpouring of energy and mental alertness will help you stay focused and productive throughout the day.
Eat a Nutritious Breakfast
A healthy breakfast should be a priority in the morning. Starting your day with a nutritious meal will give you the necessary energy to start your day.
Examples of a balanced breakfast that are quick to prepare include avocado toast, eggs, oatmeal or homemade pancakes topped with fruits. You want to ensure that your meals have fiber, protein and healthy fats.
This helps satisfy your hunger and keeps your blood sugar levels stable, preventing cravings and energy crashes. A good breakfast will boost your concentration, and memory, giving you the needed fuel for your body.
Take a Cold Shower
Do you know that taking a cold shower in the morning can do wonders for you? Because I am used to having my water temperature on the warmer side, taking a cold shower was nerve racking. But it was so worth it!
It boosts circulation throughout your body, giving you a natural energy increase to start your day. If you’re into skin care then a cold shower can tighten your skin and improve its appearance.
Lastly, cold showers can improve your mood and mental clarity by releasing endorphins.
Listen to a Motivational Speech
My morning isn’t complete if I didn’t listen to a sermon or motivational speech. Listening to these influential speakers can inspire and motivate you to face any challenges that you may face that day.
Just that one speech can be the deciding factor whether you quit or not. This could be a TED Talk, a podcast, or a speech from a notable leader.
Knowledge is power and listening is more convenient than reading because you can get more done. These kinds of speech have the power to shift your mindset. And all you think about is success and achieving your goals.
